Senior partner and founder of Joseph D. Carney & Associates, Joe received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law (Cleveland, Ohio) in 1977, and his L.L.M. (Master of Laws) from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.

A former special counsel to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Joe was promoted in only three years to partner at the Cleveland law firm of Calfee, Halter & Griswold before launching Joseph D. Carney & Associates in 1993. A licensed arbitrator, he is admitted to both the Ohio and District of Columbia bars, as well to practice before as the U.S. District Courts, Courts of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court.

Joe is an active member of the Cleveland, Ohio community, serving as trustee to multiple civic organizations. A noted author and lecturer on securities and business law topics, Joe frequently advises on complex securities transactions for Carleton McKenna Advisors, LLC, a FINRA member broker-dealer.
